The Institute of Forensic Accountants (IFA), Nigeria was established under Decree No.1 of 1990 as a professional Institute for provision of bonafide qualifications for Forensic Accountants through the administration of Professional Examinations. Due to the complex nature, of Forensic Accounting the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) in the process of incorporating the Institute of Forensic Accountants (IFA), Nigeria, the commission has to seek the written consent/approval of the Federal Ministry of Education, Abuja, Nigeria and that of Federal Ministry of Justice, Abuja, Nigeria (Evidence of approval letters are shown below). The legislative process for an Act of the Institute changed the name of the Institute from Institute of Forensic Accountants to Chartered Institute of Forensic Accountants of Nigeria.

IFA IS FULLY ACCREDITED BY THE AMERICAN COUNCIL OF TRAINING AND DEVELOPMENT

The Institute of Forensic Accountants (IFA) is accredited by The American Council of Training and Development (ACTD). This certified that the Institute’s training programs complies with required standards and the accreditation for the program certificates is granted. ACTD institutions accreditation aims to prove that the institution has met the international standards set by ACTD, leading to an increase in the credibility of its training programs.

ACTD is an independent board established in the United States of America that issued a license certificate from the Secretary of State of New Jersey. It provides training development, training programs, supervision of courses and professional programs, accreditation and evaluation service for training institutions and trainers worldwide.
